Description
The MSC Grand Opening Celebration begins in style with a free concert by new school soul artist Mayer Hawthorne. Hawthorne's major label debut album "How Do You Do" was listed at #4 on Filter Magazine's list of Top 10 Albums of 2011. Hawthorne's growing fan base includes Snoop Dogg, who performs a duet with Hawthorne on "Can't Stop," a track from Hawthorne's recent album. Other artists listing themselves as fans include Kanye West, Justin Timberlake and John Mayer. Opening the concert will be Ben Rector, a singer-songwriter who has built a strong following of his own with music influenced by "The Beatles, James Taylor, Randy Newman, Billy Joel, Spoon, the 60's and 70's" according to Rector. Tickets will be available beginning at 10am, Monday, August 27 at the MSC Box Office, on the 1st floor of Rudder Tower. Tickets free with a valid TAMU student ID. Limit 2 tickets per ID. Free parking will be available in lots 48 and 62, on either side of Kyle Field. Parking in the UC Parking Garage will not be free the night of the concert.
